Seitseminen National Park

The 2-days-trip to Seitseminen national park was already some time ago, but collection all the pictures took a while. I hope you will forgive me … basically you dont’t have any choice! 😉
We rented cars at the end of august and drove from Tampere to Seitseminen national park, where we had a 25,6km hike. It is a roundtrip hike called Virkatie, which is really worth to hike. At first we hiked through forests, swampy areas along diffrent lakes before we arrived at an old finnish and traditional farm where we had a break.

We have had the luck on our side because there was a festival, which was bringing old traditions to mind. We were able to enter the farm houses, barns and stables which seemed to be untouched for decades. Inside the houses people were showing old crafting methods like braiding baskets, binding books or knitting. We were also able to try out and help with roofing a barn. This was super nice and impressing. A band was taking care of the background music (of course they played old finnish songs) and also some soldiers took care of making noise while shooting live. Jieeehaa!

After that we went on with hiking along the trail and came by some really huge anthills. Also a tree half cut by a beaver was close to our path. Before we came to our place for the night we have seen another three lakes! It is simply insane how many of them are here. The camp of ours was also close to a lake, Liesijärvi. We had a fire place and a storage shelter for wood there and before lighting the fire we needed wood. So a handful guys (including me) starting sawing and chopping wood. 😉 That was super awesome. We had barbecue and drank some beers before we went sleeping in a big human cuddling pack.

Already during the hike there have been blueberries all along the way. I had a big portion of them for breakfast and fresh out of nature they where tasting super good. … have i mentioned that the wheather was awesome? It was indeed! Also the second day was starting sunny and warm even though the wheather turned a bit bad during the hike back to the parking area. The thunderstorm was luckily passing by without hitting us and we were able to enjoy the mossy forests, lakes and untouched nature. After that we got ourselves into the car and had a quick journey to another lake before it starting raining and headed back home to Tampere.

That was a worthwhile trip and exactly what i love to do. I really should start doing hikes like that in Germany as well. Because you don’t basically need anything without motivation! DerRené.

P.S. Special thanks to Manon, Etienne, Florian and Leo for the pictures!
