Floating Sauna

Micha decided to rent a floating sauna super spontaineously because his sister and her friend came to Tampere and he wanted to show them some sort of finnish lifestyle. With a group of 12 people we went to the harbour the next day and got to the sauna boat. At this specific time the clouds were disappearing and another sunny afternoon was waiting for us.

The captain of the Boat already heated up the sauna and we were hitting the lake soon. It was Näsijärvi, the lake north of Tampere. After arriving in a bay we were anchoring and starting our barbecue. The boat had a deck on top with a nice barbecue, seats, tables, a couch and nice garden armchairs. We brought our food and had an awesome barbecue afternoon.

After barbecue we went to the sauna, which was a bit small for 12 people but we had no other choice since we wanted to keep the costs low. Inside the sauna there were bounded birch-branches (finnish: Vasta or Vihta) for massaging the skin. It was my first time experiencing that and it felt quite vitalising. After sauna we obviously jumped into the lake. While being on the lake Pascal tried to pull out a fish, but sadly he hasn’t been successful in Finland so far.

Ahhhh, … the weather! You might ask yourself, whether Finland is a sun paradise and a just can tell you, that bad weather hasn’t appeared too often here. 😀 I haven’t expected that at all and of course that’s super nice! DerRené.
