On October 7th we became witnesses of a wonderful natural spectacle. Because of the high sun activity we saw northern lights here in Tampere, which exceeded all our expectations. The entire sky was glowing and dancing. At first i want to show you my mobile phone pictures because they might show a more realistic view of what we saw.
After we decided to leave the Skijump in Hervanta due to light pollution, we went to Särkijärvi (a lake). In my opinion this is the best option to watch northern lights if you do not want to leave Hervanta. Luckily we met a finnish guy with a DSLR, who captured this insane event in a decent quality. He allowed me to use his pictures here, what makes me really happy. A big thanks to Tomi! Have a look at his really beautiful shots on Tomi’s Flickr! DerRené.
